Optical media of the eye such as the tear film, the cornea, the crystalline lens and the vitrous body have very complex and still not well examined structure and optical properties. Both the tear film, the cornea and the crystalline lens are composed of many layers and sublayers. Each layer has a different structure and properties. They do not have spherical surfaces and indicate both the optical inhomogeneity and anisotropy. All these parameters influence the quality of the retinal image and vision. Study of these properties may enable a better understanding of the vision process and create new diagnosis methods in ophthalmology.
